She sat by the lake. Close to the spot she almost lost her life. It had been some time since then. Sometime since everything had happened. So much had occured since that day. The birth of two sons and a daughter, the death of a wise friend, and so much more. She sat and mulled everything over. Thinking of the good times and trying to forget the bad. But it never happened. She no longer thought she had failed as a mother. But did regret alot of her decisions. Truth was she never knew quite how to be the mother that her children needed. She was still so new at it considering when she gave birth to Andi, she disappeared when she could. Not because she didn't want to raise the child but because she let her fear of her brother get the better of her. But no more would she let fear make her run away from her problems. No more would she run. She had made a decision to stick things out and be the person she should be. The wife and mother her family deserved.

Dane walked out of the lake and shook off the extra water on his body. He walked along the shore and noticed a lady who was his grandmother, or his aunt, but he was pretty sure this was grandma. "Hey." He nodded and passed her. Dane wasn't always a guy who stopped and played catch up, he was saying hey, which was the least he could do. It wasn't her fault his father was an idiot, but then, she WAS the mother, so she must have passed on some form of the gene.

She was deep in thought when she saw someone coming up out of the water. For a breif moment she thought it was a clean shaven Hannibal. But she knew better. This boy was younger, she could feel it, and Hannibal would never shave off his beard and mustache. She wouldnt allow it at all. She liked them. She smiled when she realised it was Dane. Her grandson, the son of her and Hannibal's eldest son Marcus. She waved slightly, "Hi Dane." She watched him pass but wasnt going to follow, instead she spoke loud, "Why dont you come sit with me for awhile? Tell me about life."

"I'll sit, but I'm not going to talk about my life. You can ask my father what he knows. I'm sure you have right up to the part where I was burned alive yes?" He walked over and sat down with a smile. "I'm sure you feel absolutely terrible for what happened, but mind you, he even waited to tell you I was even alive. There are some days, where I think he should get an award."

She smiled, "I ment life now Dane. Not your past. There must be something good going on now?" She nodded, "I have heard. But only tid bits. You forget I was in a coma for months." She smiled sadly once more, "I did not even know your father was my son until recently. And still to this day it is still surprising. But let me tell you something about the family you walked into. None of us are perfect. Well all make mistakes. Some of us more then the rest. And its hard for us to live with them. Your father means well, but I know you still arent ready to forgive him. I know the feeling. There are days I don't want to even look at my father."

"Don't see him walking around your house I bet." he shook his head. "Life is very plain here. Nothing has happened. Obviously you've all made mistakes. I'm not stupid. But he's my father. Only I can say that, and he's the only person who can be held responsible. Yeah, you might say he couldn't help it, was not in control, but he's the last bit of immediate family I have. He's not exactly amazing. I don't even think he stops to see how much he's changed in my eyes. I don't think he gets it. I know I've changed, he thought I was dead, yada yada yada, but he's the father, he doesn't really have much room."

She shook her head, "No, I dont." She smiled slightly, "You came inbetween the action. You missed the exciting points in life here. But be glad. They werent pretty at all. I am sure your Uncle Fen has said something. If you have spoken to him that is." She nodded, "I understand that completely. I am in no way telling you to accept him with open arms. I myself still have so much to learn about him. But I think he does see. He feels it. We parents can't not feel it. Its hard to just brush aside something like that, but I do hope in time it will get better for you both. That you can form some sort of father-son bond."

"You have an easier chance than I do. You don't even know him, it's easier." He laughed. "Trust me, I can handle crazy, it's not that hard. I'm sure your place is nothing extraordinary, perhaps more extreme, but I AM a part of it, so therefore am effected. It's how I found him so quickly." He nodded. "He can do the work to get to me, because in all honesty, I'm lazy."

She smiled, "I have alot to make up for. He thinks your grandfather and I abandoned him. When in all honesty we had no recollection of him. So if anyone has it hard it is Hannibal and I. But we arent above trying." She laughed, "Well it is extreme. All of us has died at least once. Well In some form. And each of us has had our extreme evil days. I had only one, while hannibal had many. And yes you are effected by it. There's no way out now. You are a King, I just hope your not cursed with the King curse. It seems we are all efeected by it. Even the woman." She sighed slightly, "Your father wont let you go now that your here. I know that at least."

"I can walk away right now, but I have friends here, so that's mostly why I stay. Besides, Rionos and Niessa have made me feel welcome, as well as their parents." He shrugged. "The baby thing? I might have one, but I can't be sure of course, but it wouldn't come as a shock to me."

She turned to look at him, "You could, but would it be so easy? Knowing that you have a family that cares for you? Have cared for you sense you came with in our midsts?" She eyed him and then turned to stare back into the lake, "You are welcome amongst us at all times Dane. Heed that. I am the Matriarch of this family. It may seem like I have no say in things but I do. And I say no matter what anyone else says, you are welcome. If I have not made you feel that way then I do appologise greatly." She smiled, "It would be a major King trait. But I hope if there is one you know of it and take care of it. Because it has been our mistakes not too. I am the leader in this surprisingly. I think I surpass your grandfather in it."

Dane just shrugged. "I can do it, easily. I haven't made any connections like that, where I feel like I can't go away. But it's like I said before, I have friends here, so they've got me doing this or that and staying with them for awhile, so I oblige. I'm a good friend. They can't say much bad about me." He nodded. "You've really not made me feel much of anything, which is a good thing, but I'm glad for you opening your home to me, when, in a way, you don't have to."

She laughed, "At least your honest. But you do have a very good point. I was ever a homebody until the past couple years. I didn't stay in one place for too long. I slayed and then moved on. And when I decided to come back to SRH after centuries of being away, I got trapped. But I'm not sorry I stayed." She smiled slightly, "I do have to open my home. Your family. And at least if you do go away, you know you'll always have a home and a family to come back too. At least I want you to know that. There is nothing else more important then family."

"You don't need to tell me this. You should tell your son." Dane laughed. "I know all about family. I know they're important. I had a family once. I'm not sure what this is now, but it's not my family. You guys are something, but I need to be around you guys awhile longer to point and go there's my family and all that junk."

She smiled, "I have yet to speak with Marcus. I mean I have had a few passing conversations but he mainly talks to Mae and Andi. Sometimes Fen. But the last time we spoke. Really spoke, I had come back from the dead apparently." She sighed and then looked at him again, "I know you do Dane. But it was just advice." She laughed, "You stick around much longer and you'll be stuck here as well. Your Grandfather will probably have you off on some adventure with him in no time. That or will have another family disaster."
