She looked up at him, "But does that really change anything? What was said was said, I can only be thankful your sister stepped in, or I might not be standing here right?" She could still feel the tears falling down her face, she wanted to attribute them to her loss, but she knew it was somethign more. She looked away again and wiped them away, cursing herself for beign such a ninny.

He turned to her. "You can assume all you want, but the fact is we dont know. Maybe if my sister hadnt stepped in, then that might of been the case, or vice versa. You think yourself weak, yet you've yet to really look into yourself."

She sighed, "No we dont know. But i would have gotten the shorter hand. Even if my father had stepped in. One of you might have been hurt or injured. Then where would I be? spliting my loyalties." She picked at a string that was hanging from the bottom of her shirt, "There is no point anymore. I am no longer what was once highly respected, even if my position was one that was laughed at. I enjoyed it."

"As I said you can assume all you want but unless you know without a doubt of what was to occur had no one stepped in between what occured, you are merely speculating, and worrying of the past." He eyed her silently. "So you're no longer an angel. Your might does not come from a title, it comes from the person you are, and what you learn and grow from." He shook his head, wondering what had happened to the headstrong woman he had fallen head over heels for. Yet in it all, he wanted nothing more than to hold her, and let her worries slip from her.

She sighed, "Yes, you are right. But I still can't help but think of what might have happend. Your frighten me, and no one has ever done such. Except my father and sister." She looked up at him, "I am merely a shadow of my former self. I feel helpless here, like I am of no use." She wanted t just run away from here and the pain that was seeping into her. "I guess loosing my mother, and my friend has caused thsi shift in attitude." She smiled sadly, but it faltered.

He shook his head. "If you think that way of yourself, then you cannot expect anyone to think differently." He sighed. "I am very sorry for what's occured with your mother and friend, but you cannot weep forever." He stayed there. "If you think yourself weak you will become weak. I must go now." He started towards the City then stopped. "Have a little more faith in yourself, Farinele." He disappeared among the trees.

She did not know what to say, but she knew he was right. But she was still to caught up in her sadness to even think about changing. She watched him leave and his last words made her smile momentarily. She did not understand why, but he was still getting to her, even after all that had occured she was still falling for him.
