She looked up and smiled briefly, "Yes he is. But he has done much for us." She didn't like the mayor much either but as of late he had been pressuring her to wed him. HE said he could not be married to anyone else. Because she was the most beautiful, "I can imagine Nelaysa. And as of late I have been thinking about his offer, he isn't that bad at times." She looked back down at the bracelet and sighed, "Your father.." She looked up again and studied Nelaysa, 'Who gave this to you Nel?"

She almost choked on her gummy peach. "You CANT be serious, mother! Not to that thing! Anyone else but him. No. I refuse to have him as my stepfather. Have you seen his son?" She shivered. "He gives me these nasty stares. I KNOW what he's thinking. If you marry him dont expect me to live with you. I refuse to be near him or his perverted son." She made a face, then eyed the bracelet. "My father gave it to me."

She sighed and looked at Nelaysa, "I have no other choice. It's marry him or be exiled from the city. I can not be exiled from here. And don't worry about Glaedon, if I do Marry the Mayor he wont bother you. Besides it would hopefully give me a chance to forget him." She looked back at the bracelet, "It's impossible, he died. The mayor told me so. It was why i came back here in the first place."

She shook her head. "Dont expect me to be around. I'll move in with Dalon if I have to. Or in the worse find a job and get my own place." She picked up the bracelet and put it on the opposite wrist from her own. "And you believed that slimy creature. He's a mayor. He lives on lies, mom. He isnt dead. He's very much alive, I've met him. And he's come to spend time, to train with me."

"Very well Nelaysa, I knew you wouldn't like it if I did." She watched her and it sunk in slowly that Desther had never died, he had lived. But why had he left her? Why didn't he seek her out. So many questions left unanswered. She stood slowly and looked at Nelaysa sadly, "HE had proof Nel. And your father never came back. So I had no choice but to believe him. Only your father can tell you the truth now. Have fun with him Nel." She turned slowly and then stopped, she walked to the drawer and pulled out something and tossed it on the table, "When you see him next give him that and tell him i never forgot." She slowly made her way out of the room and disappeared into her own, closing the door behind her.

She sighed. "Such an emotional wreck but she wants people to think otherwise." She looked at what was thrown on the table. She picked it up, noting it was a locket and she tried opening it, but just couldnt. She stood up, with her package of gummy peaches and walked towards her mothers room. She leaned her head against her mother's door and shook her head. She took the locket on the chain and slipped it under her door. "He's in the surface, give it to him yourself, right before you become apart of that perverted family." She walked away from her mothers room and picked up her jacket putting it on and left the house.

She had been sitting on her bed just thinking about everything when she heard Nelaysa's voice. She sighed and walked to the door picking up the locket. "Fifty years...." She sat back on her bed and just turned the locket over in her hand. She opened it easily and stared down at it for a few moments then closed it back. Making a decision she stood and hooked the locket around her neck. She then began to gather her swords and weaponry from a hidden spot in her closet. She looked around one last time and then left the room. She wrote out a quick note to Nelaysa, just in case she didn't meet her on the surface. She placed it on the small note board she had put up and then squared her shoulders, "Here's to a lifetime of heartache." She left the House closing the door firmly behind her and disappeared from the city quickly.
