She stood on top of the mountain. The wind whipping her hair in her face and her white tunic and pants being lifted by the breeze. She had her wings folded behind her. Only because it felt nice to feel the wind blow her feathers. This place was so peaceful, so quiet, and yet it had a dark ominous aura about it. She could feel the pain and suffering of those already effected by the plague, she could feel the death, the solitude and despair of others, and she could feel the heart of one person who would end it all. A heart filled with love and happiness so deep that sometimes it clouded the despair that he himself had gone through. She smiled and spoke in a lilting voice, a musical phrase that seemed to wash over the town and soften the pain the people had to endure. Her hadn rose and waved over it then smiled. She loved being the Angel of Light. It was different, and it seemed that she had to have some title to be in the Angelic forces. And that was the one she chose. Some thought it foolish, but she thought it the best title for her. Her eyes shined with glee as she looked out, even the forboding darkness didn't dampen her spirit. Not ont his day.

"Your happiness sickens me Alina." Several dark wispy shadows danced along the ground around Alina and against the mountain behind her. They came together after awhile and Haziel stood beside her, quite the opposite of the lovely woman. He was covered in a long black overcoat along with torn black pants. His boots crunched on the small rocks along the ledge they stood on and Haziel looked over the town. It was a sad town, but he had to admit that it was failrly happy today for some reason. A chain rattled that was wrapped around his neck and extended back along his back. His arms were shackled and his brow was furrowed in thought.

She stifined slightly when she heard his voice. Haziel Keran. Her opposite. She was Light and he was darkness. She stayed looking over the town for a few long moments. Impregnating the silence with nothingness. Then she spoke, her voice no longer lilting or musical. it was soft and rich, and filled with a slight admiration for this man, "As does your negativity, Haziel. How long has it been? One, two centuries since we last met?" She stole a glance of him from the corner of her eyes, his black tattered clothing, his shackels, and his trademark scowl. Things never seemed to change.

"One and a half or around there. I don't care. Does it matter Alina? We must see one another at one point or another constantly because we can't allow the other to change things outright, and you know the rules. Just because we aren't regal, does not mean were just free as though we've lived wonderful lives." Haziel ran a hand through his hair and observed her. She was just always so happy, but he knew somewhere inside there, he resided. The darkness.

"No it does not matter. It was a matter of conversation Haziel. I know the rules of our kind and of our order. One cannot exist with out it's opposite. It is why so many Angels have fallen. They have tried to avoid their opposites to the breaking point until.." She snapped her finger, "They are gone." She turned to him with a raised brow, "Life is never wonderful. I feel the sadness and darkness from everywhere. This world is growing weary." She turned from him again and looked out as she felt the greif of another. Someone had died. She bowed her head and shed a single tear for that person, and prayed for their guidance into the next life.

At the same time she cried, he gave her a smile. He felt it too, and it spurred him on further. "So darkness is winning here then. It will never go away, and you of all people know that as much as you or anyone does, that light is fleeting, and it will be a long time before this place can overcome the darkness that will swallow it up." He kicked at the dirt and casted several shadows over Alina. "We can break some rules though. He will never find out."

She turned to look at him, "For now. Darkness always wins for awhile before the Light steps in. You have been around long enough to know that. And even now the Light that will break through this Darkness is growing. Unconventional to say the least but I am sure you feel it if not see it." She turned towards the Elven village and looked closely at it, studying the light that even at this moment was growing stronger. Then with shadows of doubt crossing her face she turned to him once more, "And what rules are their to break, Haziel?"

"Manipulation Alina. Changing outcomes, forcing hands. You know the rules, there are a number to break. A number of them we need not worry about. Use your imagination. You're light and good and blah blah blah, are you not?" Shaking his head, he let the shadows caress her cheek and neck, and watched as they slid away from her, finding their way back to him. "My friends never tell me much about you."

"But why would we want that? It could change all of life. Create things that aren't supposed to happen. That is very Dangerous Haziel." Even as she said it her excitement peaked slightly. The thought of perhaps maniulating something was very attractive. But she would never do it. She was too pure for that. "I wouldnt dare Haziel. I could never change the fate of these people, of anyone." Her eyes sparkled with a stubborn glow and she smiled ever so slightly, "And what is it that you wish to know? Your shadows have no power over me."

"That's what you think. One day I'll break through, I promise. They can however lock onto the darkness in everyone and you are a fallen thus have experienced such a happening. Pure? I disagree." He eyed her knowingly and smirked. "Alina, controller of light. How happy, pure, and light is she? As much as the sun on a cloudy day." Sometimes he would come up with the most random phrases to explain things. This was one of those times. "Let my shadow have its way Alina. Why fight such a thing? Why fight me?" His eyes gleamed playfully.

"Is that a threat haziel." Her eyes gleamed slightly with a shadowy darkness. No one knew the circumstance of her Fall. No one except her and the two people she trusted most. Her mentors and friends. "You do not know anything of me Haziel." His explanation of her powers was much like her own. She sighed and finally nodded to him. She wouldnt resist even if she wanted to. He intrigued her, "The same reason you fight myself Haziel." Her own eyes gleamed as she looked at him and she smiled.

"So you say. I'll find out though. When I do, well, it will be quite a day. You shall never find out anything about me because I am the only one who knows everything about myself. You would most likely be second only because you are full of everything I naturally despise. Of course, in part it can not be helped. You are my foil, my enemy. A very beautiful enemy, which is why I've never tried to defeat your radiance. The next ruler of your domain if you were to perish might not be as easy on the eyes, or perhaps even worse. A male to oppose me would not be good, but a male could never hold such a position. Only a woman should be given the domain you reign over."

"I do say. And you will find out nothing. The only two who know will never tell. Tell me Haziel do you honestly believe Yarizel would give out that information? Or her Twin Farinele. I trust them. The only way you would find out is from me. And i am not divulging that yet." She stared at him a moment, moved by his thoughts of her. "We are no longer enemies, Haziel. We are both fallen. We are allies if anything. Perhaps it is time we choose to behave that way."

"Well, the sisters are just as easily tricked as anyone else can be. Besides, Yarizel has children I can get to find out, if I planned such an extravagant mission, which I will not for I see no profit in it for me. Allies are we? Where is the fun in being allies Alina? Fallen means nothing. We are just called something else, and we are rejected from our world. Why do we have to be allies? We technically don't have to be."

She laughed, "If you think you can trick Yarizel, by all means try. But I garuntee she wont fall for any trickery you have in store. She is far smarter then that." She eyed him for a moment then turned to the edge of the cliff once more, "What do we have to gain by being enemies? Nothing. What do we have to gain by becoming allies? Everything. We are opposites. Two sides of an ultimate one. Don't you think that better then one."
