He groaned slightly and found he was laying on his back, which burned immensely. He must have been scorched more than he realized at first, and wondered where he was. He smelled the sheet beneath him and immediately recognized this as Earnur's room, since the scent and what he sensed was not Laita's or her sister's at all.Turning over, he laid on his back and that hurt even more and he sighed loudly, wondering what had happened while he was sleeping.

"Do not move so suddenl, Cirdan. You'll only cause yourself more pain." She had just opened the door and finished closing it, when she saw him move. She hurried over to him, and placed the water basin she held on the table next to the bed. She pulled out the leaves she had gotten from the garden and stared at him. "The palace is in a frenzy. And both Earnur and myself were worried sick over you. He's gone to speak to my mother, if you wondered."

"Good, good." He nodded and sat up, wincing slightly."Was he injured any? Earnur that is. I did my best to protect him, I hope it was good enough. I messed up by not telling you all sooner when I heard it, but I just thought it was a silly rumor. There have been things like that before. I'm sorry. You all must be angry with me."

"My uncle is well. Physically he is, but mentality he worried for you." She grabbed his shoulder softly. "Please turn around so I can better tend to your wounds." She looked at him questiongly. "What do you speak of? I've no idea. I barelyhad the chance to speak to my uncle, and I've spent my time watching over you, so I know not of much more of what happened by the restaurant, except for the explosion."

He nodded and turned back onto his stomach."I'm glad he wasn't hurt. It's just, I don't know what happened. One minute everything was fine, and then the next, I felt something happening and a split second later and I dove at him, and if I had hesitated..." He shook his head of the thought.

She dipped the cloth into the basin and applied it softly on his wounds, cleaning them all in turn. "Do not worry. You performed your duties..and you saved him." She pulled out a silvery leaf and started to rub it around his back. "Promise me you will never leave me in such a way, Cirdan..."

He frowned."What do you mean Laita? I was to save your uncle. That is my duty, that is my loyalty, not only because of what I am, but because of who he is and what he has done for me through the years. I would do that for any of you."

"I am aware of your duties. I've lived long enough to know it by heart." She sighed slightly, unrolling the bandage around him, lifting him, when she needed to. "I mean, that I do not wish you to leave me after any attack of the like, both out of and in battle. I just wish for you to promise me, that no matter what occurs you will fight to survive." She pulled away and sat on the chair next to his bed, with her hands on the lap. "My uncle spoke of you fading yourselves to safety...he only told me because he knows of how close you and I are, and he has promised not to tell any other of it, not even my mother."

"I had to get him out of there quickly." He nodded and just frowned."It could have ended horribly wrong, and I still did it." He shook his head."Another risk unneccesary on my part, but I fight to do what I must." He nodded.

"I understand that as clearly as day. I'm not saying for you to perform your duties any differently, but just....nevermind." She looked at him, silently, and looked around her uncle's room. It was better prepared that she had thought it would be.

"So he brought me to his room huh?" he laughed. "I remember him telling me stories of battles in this very room. I would sit and just listen for what felt like days with the stories he told me to teach me lessons that I still hold to now." He laughed and looked around."I wonder..." He got up, he wasn't one to rest after being wounded and knelt by the corner of the room by a desk and pushed the knot there, which was a design all around the room in each corner and then he smiled as a compartment opened."I wonder if he..." He shook his head and slid back, amazed."He kept the record of my first battle in here. He's very strange, but he kept his word. I made him promise when I was merely seven years old. It's been ages since then."

She watched him curiously, just listening to his words. She tilted her head to the side when he moved to the corner of the room, and smiled slightly. "I do not think him strange. I think he considers you as his son. Which really should not be surprising for you."

He laughed."I considered him a brother, but yes, I've at times, considered him a father figure. He taught me a lot when he didn't have to at all. I'm grateful to him. I despise that there is no way I could thank him for all that he's done." he pushed the knot and then watched the door close, and assumed only he and Earnur could open it and then just got up and walked to the bed and sat down. "Remember that time he let us camp out on his floor, because he had promised us to go outside, but it had stormed terribly?"

"I know you shall find a way. There is always a way." She gave a firm nod, and watched him. "I know you despise being in bed, but you have to rest." She giggled and nodded. "Yes, I remember. My favorite part of the night was when he came into the room dressed as a pirate even with a wooden leg. I will never forget when he slid on the floor and fell on his behind. It was fun just ganging up on him, and 'beating' him up, though I've always suspected he let us win." She laughed.

"Well, were bigger now, and he's a lot older. I suppose we could take him." he laughed."I can't rest here. He needs a bed, unless he's scared of the dark and needs a strong Guard to be posted here." He laughed some more and nodded."He's a good elf, and man, and creature, whatever you wish to call Earnur. This family means more to me beyond all others here."
