Angels are ethereal spirits seen in a number of church-related literature. They came to be when creationg started. The story goes as follows, they were created during the first days of creation. 'God' created them probably in the first or second day to help him carry out the tasks he needed when he was creating the earth. Afterwards they became his messengers. Angels do not exist in the same realm we do, time does not exist for them, and they can use the ethereal realm to travel between mankind and 'God'. They are the beings that deliver messages to humans and also cause inspiration. There is no predetermined gender for angels, only that they exist. Angels do not procreate. And they cant die. They're number stay the same, they do not increase or decrease.
The counterparts of Angels are Fallen Angels. These are Angels that have fallen from grace. There are two stories that tell how some Angels fell from grace. The first being that when the Earth was created they were sent down to watch humans and guide them. Several Angels, began to lust after human women after awhile and mated with them, thus creating a new line of half breeds or 'Nephilim.' Since the 'Nephilim' were not a part of 'Gods' original plans for creation he just let them kill each other, and the spirits of those half breed eventually became demons who would tempt mankind.
The second story involves a great war in heaven. During the time when Lucifer (The Shining One) became lustful after power he created a great war against 'God'. Some Angels switched over to help Lucifer in the quest for power, and fought against their creator. Other Angels joined the Arch Angel Michael and fought to vanquish Lucifer and the other Angels who betrayed their creator. God cast them all to the Abyss or Hell (depending on what you call it). At the same time, God also punished the Angels who would not fight, and they too became fallen. Lucifer fell from grace taking others with him. The Fallen Angels, are much like demons except they retained certain powers bestowed only upon Angels.
