Orenar had to come and see it for himself. The ocean had frozen over in what was an apocalyptic event, and in all of his life, oceans didn't freeze very often without extreme consequences afterwards. Orenar walked out onto the icy little tundra and watched as some new creatures were making it home.
Rubbing the side of his head, Orenar felt the rough stone that was his wedding ring rub against his skin. It was a nice reminder of what he'd done recently, tied the knot. It was something that a lot of people didn't expect of him and he would never live it down, so he would deny it every so often, which usually got him a light smack on the shoulder from his wife.
Sliding across the icy advance, watching as some creatures were ice fishing. It made him shake his head and laugh.

The end of the world some people were calling it. The plague mixed with this suddenly frozen ocean had people on edge. The plague was understandable but to call the end of the world because an ocean got frozen? It was a little extreme to her. She'd long since known that creatures found the signs of the apocalypse in anything but this was a little ridiculous.
She stopped atop a small sand dune that overlooked the now frozen ocean and found quite a sight. People were all about fishing, playing, laughing. It was odd and heartwarming all in one. It seemed some still kept hope and faith alive in this trying times and it was welcomed change. Looking out at the frozen water she saw a few people ice skate and in that distance she saw a familiar face. He was sliding across the waters and instantly a smile broke across Larentia's face. To think that this person laughing in the distance was the feared and powerful Orenar Taninide. He was something else.
Carefully, she climbed down the dune and walked across the grainy landscape towards the frozen area. As she walked she gave a sideways glance at some children along with a brief smile. She breathed in deeply and exhaled to watch her smokey breath. She moved further towards the edge of where the water would have started in another time and just watched silently and in thought. How would she break the news to Orenar?

Orenar turned to look towards the energy of his wife moving towards him and he gave her a quick wave, pretending to be flirting with her as a stranger. Then he moved to show off, spinning on the ice and doing a few flips. It was pathetic, the things he did to make her love him more, as if he needed it, and he enjoyed it. There was a something that changed him him over a hundred years back where there was a void and he was finding it filled every day by Larentia.

"Oh lord.." She spoke through clenched teeth trying in vain not to laugh. But before long she let loose a few chuckles and shook her head. He was still young at heart, he was becoming more carefree and just someone more at ease than to the Demon she had met. She looked down and slid towards him deciding that he shouldn't be the only one to have all the fun. She rose her left leg and did a little swirl as she reached him.
"Well any man, demon or otherwise, who does a backflip on ice for me is certainly in my good graces." She gave him a peck on his cheek.

"Be careful, if my wife catches you, she will more than likely behead you and put your head over her mantle." Orenar stopped moving but was still sliding as he grabbed her by the arm, rolling his eyes some. "Then she might decide to castrate me. She'd be lucky if she did, because I don't think she'd be strong enough to survive the ordeal."

"I'll deal with your wife when she shows up. I might look weak but I can certainly hold my own." She winked and grinned. More people had joined them in the 'rink' and were skating about laughing, giggling, and making asses of themselves. "Aww. No worries. I'll protect you! Can't very well have you with nothing. It would make this little affair boring." She tried to move backwards but instead slipped and quickly held onto him so she wouldn't fall and make an ass of herself but it was for nothing because she fell on her ass anyway.
"Not a word." She chuckled.

"The memory of it will suffice. I don't need to make fun of you for it to make it any less funny." Orenar smirked and picked her up, holding her so she wasn't touching the ground and that she was pretty much sitting in his arms. "Now you won't fall. It won't give me any more laughs, but I think that will benefit me at the end of the day."

"You don't have to do that you know." She looked forward. She was kinda enjoying this actually. It wasn't very often you had a personal 'chauffeur' who skated around with you in his arms. She said nothing for a few moments just watching as some children decided to play some game she'd never seen. They were pretty good at it and she wished she was a few years younger to join them in the fun.
"I got a letter from my sister in Menelus today. Before long I'll have to travel there."

"Alone or with help?" Orenar continued moving, getting a bit faster, the ice getting a lot easier to move on because it was fresh. The less people that were around, the icier and smoother the ice was. It was really nice, better than walking or running because that tended to be a bit tiring after awhile.

"Ohh watch it." They'd just narrowly passed by a couple and Larentia chuckled. This really was fun, oddly enough. She felt like a child again except with a much better childhood, if she were living it right now. She relaxed and giggled. "You're good at this. We have to this again!" She squeaked. "Not with help. But with you. My father is dying. And before he does, I want you to meet each other." Then she mumbled something under her breath.

Orenar nodded. "That will be...interesting and I'm sorry to hear that, unless you want him dead. I know how things with my family were, so I can understand it if that's what you wanted." He pressed his lips to hers and they continued to slide along. "But I'll go with you if that's what you want."

"He wasn't the greatest father but no I don't want him dead." She kissed him back. "But there's nothing that can be done about this." She smiled. "We need to talk too. It can wait until we get over there, if you'd like." She touched his cheek and giggled when he moved his legs which caused a weird sensation to her for some odd reason. "You know, you came out pretty good regardless of how your family was."

"I suppose and we can talk whenever you want to talk to me. I'm a good listener." Orenar started skating backwards, rocking her back and forth. "I turned out to be alright, not too bad. Next generation is a lot better than mine. So yeah."

"That might be true but you have something to do with that you know? If you don't listen to much, then listen to this. You're a good father trying is just as good as doing. Remember that." She leaned close to him and closed her eyes. "You're definitely a good grandfather. Can't wait to see how you are with our own mewling bunch of kids." She smiled.

"I was a terrible father, trust me on that one. Me and my son both know that for a fact." Orenar shrugged. "And honestly, I don't mind admitting that outloud because that's just now how our kind was raised, to be caring. Something happened with demons, we just suddenly became a lot more...caring or something." Orenar looked as if he was both grateful for that but also missed the past.
